About our Flow Switches
A flow switch can be used in a variety of applications and perform a number of functions. Flow switches might be used to monitor the flow rate of a liquid, trigger an alarm if the flow is too high or too low or even protect a pump. The flow sensor will usually send an electrical signal to a PLC or other electronic controller.
Applications Engineering offer a wide range of plastic body and metal body flow switches to suit a wide range of applications and industries. What is a flow switch?
Flow switches are typically used to control the flow of liquid or gas through a designated channel. A flow switch can activate if the volume of the flow is too great or too little.
How does a flow switch work?
Flow switches are activated by a connected paddle, that is displaced as water or gas passes. If the volume of passing substance is too high or too low, the switch will shut the circuit off to prevent damage elsewhere in the system.
Where are flow switches used?
- – Triggering an alarm if a supply shuts off
- – Shutting down an electric motor during insufficient flow
- – Air conditioning / ventilation units
- – Central heating systems
- – Swimming pool chlorination systems
